Case Study

Lake clearance and ecological enhancements

Earth and Sun were tasked to improve and dredge a large lake that had not been managed for many years.

In order to access the water, a quantity of dead and dying ash trees were felled from the banks enabling access to extract fallen trees in the water to enable the dredging process to follow. This was done using a 13t excavator with tree sheer and grapple to prepare and stack the timber for extraction once the ground conditions are suitable.

The task was programmed before nesting bird season and ahead of dredging activities.

After clearance the lake will have a path reinstated to enable pedestrian access and for the space to be enjoyed once again. There will be an addition of large hibernacula to assist overwintering wildlife, including amphibians that will flourish in the damp habitats within the area.
